The face to face, one or two day coastal retreats and workshops in a house with stunning ocean views will take place at the beautiful Oregon Coast in Rockaway Beach. Rockaway Beach is one of the oldest beach towns in Oregon, located 85 miles west of Portland. The retreats will be co-led by me and another faculty who is trained in understanding both race, power and difference and is also an expert in trauma informed pedagogy and practices. Capped at 6 participants only, we will maintain a space for deep conversations, meaningful outcomes and community building amongst the participants. The entire day will be divided into segments between understanding the nuances of systemic racism, writing and creative exercises to sharpen our understanding of the various sites of academic trauma, strategies to confront white supremacy power structures, building resilience and healing. If the weather is appropriate, we will also carve out time to take a stroll on the sandy beach
